Step One: select a genetic disorder to research:
Option One: From the National Institutes of Health:
- Begin your research at the Genes and Disease Web page at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/bv.fcgi?rid=gnd
- Click on a part of the body from the Navigation box on the left side of the screen.
- On the next screen the Navigation box on the left will have a list of specific genetic disorders related to the category.
- Choose a genetic disorder to research
- Write down one or more disorders for your research:

Option two: From Yahoo
Health Directory: Genetic Disorders
Find a Web site for your topic:
- Begin your research by reading through the CATEGORIES in the Yahoo list
- Choose one of the genetic disorders listed on the Yahoo page
- Go on to click one or more of the choices on the next screen
- Write down one or more disorders for your research:

Step Two: Find one or more really good sites for your topic.
Use Google, at www.google.com (after reading these tips for searching the Web)
- Google automatically searches as if an AND were between any search words.
(all of the words you use in the search box will have to be in each one of the results)- Use quote marks to create a phrase and search for words in exact order, like:
"male pattern baldness"
"cystic fibrosis"- Limit your search to one domain. Higher quality results can be found at .org .gov and .edu sites
"sickle cell anemia" site:.edu
"Tay-Sachs disease" site:.gov
Using Google, identify at least one quality Internet resource on your topic. Scroll up and down the Web page to find the following information:
