The
Final Project for this class
is an annotated works cited list
of at least 5 of the sources
you used to write your research
paper. You must cite at least three different types of sources (books, Web pages, fulltext periodical articles. interviews, videos, films and diaries).
The final project demonstrates your ability to:
- Identify, select and evaluate appropriate sources on a focused topic
- Write accurate citations
- Understand the principles of acknowledging those who have contributed to your research
What is an annotated works cited list?
An annotated works cited list provides a brief summary of the contents of each book, article, interview, Internet document, film or video included in the list. The annotation (placed below each citation) describes the essential details of the work so that future researchers referring to an entry will be able to make an informed decision about using the text.
When writing a citation, be sure to use the format appropriate for the field in which you're writing: it could be APA, CBE or MLA (the examples are MLA,). Remember to put your citations in alphabetical order by authors' last names. If no author is given, use the first word in the title.
When writing your annotations, use the following guidelines:
- Briefly describe the contents
- Note any special features
- Describe the author's particular viewpoint or ideological framework, if possible
- Identify any weaknesses or problems
- Explain what this item contributed to your research
- Limit your annotations to 75 - 125 words (4 to 6 sentences)
The final project is worth 50 points. The due date is posted on the Course Calendar.
