Library 10 is a self-paced course in Library instruction. The work for the course will be done in a workbook that you will complete in the Library although many parts of the workbook can also be completed anywhere you have access to the internet. The workbook is divided into two parts. You will turn in your workbook twice for grading. There will be a final exam at the end of the course.

The workbook must be your own work. Please work individually and not in groups. Any workbooks found to be copied or worked on jointly will not be accepted.

Due Dates:

October 3: Turn in Part One of your workbook to the Reference Desk.

November 14: Turn in Part Two of your workbook to the Reference Desk.

December 10-16: Take your final exam any time during these dates (the earlier the better).

PLEASE NOTE: Points will be deducted for workbooks turned in late.

Grading:

Miss up to 9 points total (workbook & final) = A

Miss up to 16 points total (workbook & final) = B

Miss up to 23 points total (workbook & final) = C

Miss up to 30 points total (workbook & final) = D

Miss 31 or more points (workbook & final) = F

Examples of A-level work:

Correct answers are given for all or nearly all of the workbook exercises
All or nearly all of the elements for key MLA citations are included
All or nearly all resources selected are relevant to the specified topic and provide significant information on the topic

Examples of B-level work:

Correct answers are given for nearly all of the workbook exercises
Nearly all elements for key MLA citations are included
Nearly all of the resources selected are relevant to the specified topic and provide significant information on the topic

Examples of C-level work:

Correct answers are given for most of the workbook exercises
Most of the elements for key MLA citations are included
Most of the resources selected are relevant to the specified topic

Examples of D-level work:

Correct answers are given for most of the workbook exercises
At least half of the elements for key MLA citations are included
Only some of the resources are relevant to the specified topic

Examples of F-level work:

Correct answers are given for few of the workbook exercises
Fewer than half of the elements for key MLA citations are included
Few of the resources are relevant to the specified topic

Additional Information:

Students in my section may pick up their corrected workbooks at the Reference Desk within 2-3 days (often sooner) after turning it in.

Please pick up and review your workbook before you take the final. The final is a closed-book exam that takes around 1.5 hours and is done completely at the computer. You will need to study for it.

The deadline to apply for a Credit / No Credit grade is October 4.

Withdrawing from the course:

Library 10 is a separate course from your English course. If you drop English, you must also drop the corresponding Library 10 section.
