About the Class:

Library 10 is a self-paced, workbook based, co-requisite of English 1A.  The course is designed to provide you with the basic skills to perform research in your English 1A class as well as your other courses at Cabrillo College, and beyond.  The exercises in the workbook will acquaint you with the library’s resources, teach you to develop research strategies, evaluate your sources and create a works cited list in MLA format.

Important Due dates:

• ASAP: Purchase the Library 10 workbook at the Library Reference Desk
• October 4th : Notify me if you want to take the class for Pass /No Pass
• October 3rd: Turn in part one of the workbook.
• November 14th: Turn in part two of the workbook.
• Dec. 1st: No workbooks accepted after this date!!!
• Dec. 10th - Dec. 16th: Take the final exam in the Library
• Hand in your workbooks at the Reference Desk, Aptos campus and allow two weeks for grading
• Pick up workbooks at the Reference Desk PROMPTLY! -- this is my only way of communicating with you so it is important that you pick up your workbook for feedback and comments!!!!

Grading:

The Workbook will count as 75% of final grade
The Final Exam will count as 25% of final grade

There are 100 points possible: 90 – 100 = A ; 80 – 89 = B ; 70 – 79 = C ; 60 – 69 = D ; 59 – 0 = F

The due dates are firm.  You will be dropped a letter grade if your workbook is handed in after the due date.

Do your own work! If you must work with a partner do not turn in identical choices for book, article and web citations - I can't tell the difference between copying and collaboration

Other Things You Should Do:

• Get a library card.  This allows you to do much of your work outside the library if you have internet access
• Go to the reference desk in the library and ask ANY librarian if you have questions
• Contact me if you are experiencing any problems
