Library Card Information

Who can get a Cabrillo College Library Card?

Any student registered for one or more Cabrillo College classes may obtain a Cabrillo library card at no charge. Click here for additional information.
Regular employees of Cabrillo College, both faculty and classified staff, may obtain a Cabrillo library card at no charge. Click here for information.
Residents of Santa Cruz county or Aromas age 18 and over may obtain a Special Borrower library card, for an annual fee of $25. Click here for information.
Special Borrower cards are available at no charge to the following: retired Cabrillo College faculty and classified staff, Cabrillo governing board members, spouses and children of full-time Cabrillo employees, former Cabrillo students working on an incomplete Cabrillo class, Santa Cruz County Education employees, current full-time UCSC faculty or students with approval letter from their library, and other special categories. The Circulation Department maintains a complete list of eligible Special Borrower patron categories and requirements.
San Lorenzo Valley High School students, staff, and instructors are able to get a Cabrillo library card during the restoration of their school library. Click here for information

What can I do with a Cabrillo College Library Card?

At the Library, you can:

Check out books
Check out course reserve materials placed in the library by your instructors
Check out a wireless laptop with word processing software and more (details)

From home or off-campus, you can:

Look up and renew books you have checked out (course reserve materials cannot be renewed online). Start at the Library home page (libwww.cabrillo.edu), click on Library Catalog, then click on View Your Own Circulation Record.)
Place holds on regular books (not course reserves) that someone else has checked out. When you find a book in the Catalog that has a due date in the Status box, click on the Place a Hold button.
Connect to any of the fulltext online databases that we subscribe to. Start at the Library home page (libwww.cabrillo.edu), click on Fulltext Articles, then enter your library card barcode (see below). Note: Due to licensing restrictions, remote access to the library's online databases is not available to SLVHS patrons.

Your library card barcode number is the 14-digit number found below the barcode that was attached to the front of your new Library Card (or to the back of your Cabrillo Activity Card). When entering this number from home to access any of the above services, remember to enter all 14 digits with no spaces.

This is your personal Library Card and barcode number. It is not to be shared with anyone, or made available to anyone else.
