Reference Services Program
- Reference Librarians at the Cabrillo College Library provide high-level assistance to everyone in
the academic community for identification and use of information
resources and a wide variety of library resource materials. Reference librarians assist individuals in their navigation
through an increasing wealth of online and print resources. The ability to identify, access, and evaluate
information resources is central to the teaching and learning process, to being comfortable in the digital world. These related skills
provide a life-long learning abilities with respect to information literacy.
- Ask a Librarian -- Students can email the library with questions and expect an answer within 24 hours.
- Recommend purchases --The process of providing reference services leads librarians to in-depth knowledge
of collection and resource needs for library support of the College's curriculum.
This knowledge of user needs is translated smoothly into Collection
Development activities.
- In Fall 2001 the Integrated Learning Center (ILC) at the Watsonville campus
added a small focused selection of Reference Books to their available resources
for students. The Watsonville Reference Collection is provided to augment
the tutorial services available at the ILC. A complete list of the Watsonville
Reference collection is available at: http://libwww.cabrillo.edu/about/techserv/watsonvillereference.htm
