Email
(or, electronic mail) is a means of communicating using the Internet.
If you don't yet have email, you'll probably want to sign up.
It's very convenient to be connected electronically. You can learn to
send messages, attachments, as well as images via email. There are many
services that provide free email. But, one of the best is Yahoo!.
-
-
On
the next screen, click on Sign up now.
-
On
the next screen, click on Sign Up Now in the lefthand box;
this is the Free Edition
-
The
hardest part is finding an ID that is not already taken by someone
else. You'll learn at the end of the signup process if the ID you're
wanting to use is unique, or if someone else has taken it. If you
have an unusual name, it often works to use that as your ID. Mine,
for example, might be topsysmalley@yahoo.com. If that is already
taken, try adding a zip code or year to your name. Example: topsysmalley2003@yahoo.com
-
Fill
out the form:
- Your
password has to be at least 6 characters long.
When asked to re-enter it, type it in exactly as you
first entered it. Remember it! Write it down!
- When
asked for an alternate email, you can use mine: topsysmalley2003@yahoo.com
- Where
it asks you for Industry, click Education
- Where
it asks you for Title, click Student--College
- Unless
you want advertisements and surveys sent directly to your email,
unclick the little boxes next to Send me special offers...
and Send me more info on the Harris Poll...
- Type
in the word that is shown in the last box.
- Hit
the Submit This Form button.
Now
you'll learn if the ID you selected will work. If someone already
has taken it, select another ID until you have one that works.
