Find Books in the Library
  1. Go to the Cabrillo College Library homepage 
  2. Click on Library Catalog
  3. Type a topic into the search box

pointTo get access only to electronic books -- The library offers over 18,000 electronic books!!

  1. Go to the Cabrillo College Library homepage
  2. Click on Full Text Articles (second icon down, on left)
  3. Under General (top left), click on NetLibrary e-Books (if you are off campus, type in your library card number)

    Search the electronic books using a topic of interest to you. Once you have the book on the screen, click to View this Book. Pretty amazing! What did you find?

 Find Articles in Magazines

Academic Search Premier provides access to information about articles published in approximately 8,000 periodicals.  For just over half of those, full text copies of the articles are in the database. 
  1. Go to the Cabrillo College Library homepage
  2. Click on Full Text Articles
  3. Under General (on the left), select Academic Search Premier (if you are off campus, type in your library card number)
  4. On the next screen, click to go to the Advanced search interface. 



    With this advanced search screen, you can most efficiently search more than one term at a time.

  5. Click on the little box next to the word Full Text to limit your search to full text articles on the database. 



  6. Type in your search terms and hit the SEARCH button. For example, here's a search for full text articles about Monterey Bay otters



    From the results list, click on the article title to get to the screen with more information about it.

Find Newspaper Articles

Proquest Newspapers
is a database that includes articles from the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and The Christian Science Monitor
  1. Go to the Cabrillo College Library homepage
  2. Click on Full Text Articles 
  3. Over on right, under News, click on Proquest Newspapers

    Notice that you can email the article, and even click to get a citation for it.

Searching Inside Books

Google is digitizing books. Millions of them. Here's how it's being done.  Here's another video about the process.

Go to books.google.com. Here's a search for books about teamwork. This search retrieves books published after 2006 that you can read all the way through.

point Go to GoogleBooks. Look for books on a topic of interest to you. Limit to full view so you can read the books. What did you find?
