Dental Hygiene Resources--Finding full text articles in two databases. |
The following table illustrates the operation of Boolean terms:
|
And |
Or |
Not |
| Each result contains all search terms. |
Each result contains at least one search term. |
Results do not contain the specified terms. |
|
The search hygiene and dental finds items that contain both hygiene and dental |
The search hygiene or dental finds items that contain either hygiene or items that contain dental. |
The search hygiene not dental finds items that contain hygiene but do not contain dental. |
If you search for "dental hygiene" in an EBSCO database, the system will treat the words in quotes by retrieving those words only when they occur in that exact order.
For example: "dental hygiene" (in quotes) retrieves over 500 articles but,
dental AND hygiene retrieves over 1800 articles.Try this search: "oral health" AND California (limited to full text, we get only 19 articles)
Try this search (use quotes around a phrase to guarantee that the results will be in that order)
"dental care" AND California (limited to full text, we get 36 articles)
Try this search: "Materials Safety Data Sheets" OR MSDS ____________
