Expectations for student learning:
- Familiarity and comfort with the language and vocabulary of the online world.
- Familiarity with the Library Homepage and the Library Catalog
- Familiarity with a range of Fulltext resources
The big picture:
Reading, making choices, and selecting a file or site to view are regular activities in the online world.
Remember, the online sources are not "smart." You have to spell the words correctly and choose a variety of words to get useful information back from these tools.
How to find what you want:
- Choose an online fulltext source from the library homepage OR a search engine linked from the library homepage.
- Write out the words to describe what you are looking for.
- Study any help pages that may be linked to your source, or the guides created for this class.
- Try your search, look at a few of the results? Are they what you wanted? Redo your search with more or different words.
- Talk to a librarian for help and ideas about how to get better results.
If you have a current valid library card, a computer, and internet access you can use eBooks and fulltext online library resources from home.
