The world of videos

More and more videos are available on the Web. I am not guaranteeing that you'll find good videos that relate just to the dental hygiene services you'll be investigating, but you should know that the world of videos on the Internet is there, and is growing. Since anyone can upload videos, and zillions of people do, the quality is uneven. Sometimes, the ratings (number of stars next to a video title) help you select.

The main outlets for videos on the Web are

Look for videos by typing in "dental hygiene" so you can get a notion of what's available. To play a video in the classroom, you have to disable the popup blocker on the computer. To do that, hold down the Ctrl key (lower left of keyboard) when you click to get the video.

Transfer an image to a Word document

The Web is rich in images. You'll want to know how to copy an image into a Word document. If you can't do this in your sleep, go through these steps.

To get an image, use one of these:

Once you have your image, to insert it into a Word document, follow these steps:

1. From the Start menu bring up Word
2. Right click on the image. Scroll down to Copy
3. Go to your Word document. Position your cursor to where you want your image to be. Paste the picture (File -> Paste; or, use Ctl V)
4. Under (or near) the image, type the word Source and include the title of the Web site and its URL. (You can just copy and paste the URL into your Word document -- Ctrl C to copy; Ctrl V to paste)

Your image is there. You can write next to and below the image. To put text around the image -- click on the image, go to Format -> Picture. Click on Layout tab, and select the layout format you want.

Please share your thoughts about this session. Thanks.
