You are wanting to determine which government (state, federal, local) was/is responsible for responding to Hurricane Katrina. You are exploring the relationships among the governments and their responsibilities for dealing with this disaster.

Find Periodical Articles
  1. Go to the Cabrillo College Library homepage
  2. Select Full text Articles 
  3. Under Social Sciences, click on Academic Search Premier [If you are coming in from off campus, your user ID is your library card number]   Another good general periodical database is MasterFILE Premier, listed under General (top left).
  4. On the next screen, click on  so you can search using several search terms
  5. Click in the small box next to Full Text
  6. Type in your search terms.  Then click on Search 

You may want to search for articles published in the past, sometime after Katrina hit. Explore looking for articles published in the Fall of 2005 and into the Spring of 2006, when people were making assessments about who should have done what.

Use Proquest Newspapers (NY Times, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and Christian Science Monitor) Coverage: last 2 years. 

  1. From the Cabrillo College Library homage, click on Full Text Articles
  2. Over on the right, under News, select Proquest Newspapers [If you are accessing this from off campus, your library card number is your user ID]
  3. Type in your search terms
  4. Click on Search

You might want to look at articles published Fall 2005 when you explore newspaper articles -- you'll find it's simple to limit to certain date coverage.
