Before we get started

  1. Go to the Cabrillo College Library homepage
  2. Go to the Web page for this class -- From the Library homepage, click on Internet Links, then select Political Science, then scroll down to Course-Related Materials and select PS 2, Comparative Government, M. Escover
Make this page a Favorite. Towards the top of your screen, click on the green plus/gold star, then on Add to Favorites, then on OK. Whenever you want to come back to this page, you can find it easily by clicking on the gold star.


Find Periodical Articles
  1. Go to the Cabrillo College Library homepage
  2. Select Full text Articles 
  3. Under Social Sciences, click on Academic Search Premier [If you are coming in from off campus, your user ID is your library card number]  
  4. On the next screen, click on  so you can search using several search terms
  5. Click in the small box next to Full Text
  6. Type in your search terms.  Then click on Search

For this assignment, you want an article that discusses some aspect of politics in a European country. You may already have a topic in mind. If not, try one of these:

  • opposition parties in Great Britain
  • British Parliament and terrorism
  • politics in Germany [or some other European country]

Use quotation marks to keep words in phrases together, e.g., "opposition parties"

You can, of course, read articles on the computer screen. You can also save them, print them out, and even email them. Print and email options are at the top of your screen. The Library supports students doing research in the classroom by allowing you to print out up to 30 pages during this session. Printer is in the front of the classroom.
