Slide Viewers
Directions for Use
-
The power switch is on the left of the front of the
viewer.
-
A cassette may accompany
the slides. The cassette player is on the left side
of the viewer, and the cassette player controls are on the FRONT of the
viewer. To open the door for the
cassette, push the "eject" button. A headphone can be plugged in
on the left side of the machine where
it is marked "ear."
-
To view a tray of slides:
- line up the "0" slide slot on the slide tray
with the slide slot on the left side on the top of the machine.
- Press forward button for first slide to drop into viewing position.
- The projection light comes on when the first slide drops into the slot.
- Press forward button to advance through the tray
The "select," "reverse," "forward," and "focus" buttons
on the top of the viewer all pertain to moving the
slide tray and to actually viewing slides.
When the student is done viewing the slides: - the tray MUST be rotated to the "0" position in order to release the tray.
- In order to move the slide tray freely, simply hold
down the "select" button, and rotate the tray.
- Please make sure each student is shown how to use the "select" button when you introduce them to the machine. If
they manually advance the tray through each slide, it is time-consuming
and wears out the mechanisms of
the machine.
Troubleshooting
-
If the screen stays dark, it may be because the slide
tray is not in place. Check to make sure that it is snugged down
and locked into place. If that doesn't work (assuming that you've
checked and the power is on), check the lens switch on the top left side
of the viewer. It should be up. (In order to project slides
instead of simply viewing them, you would flip that switch down to switch
the interior lens and open the small door on the top left of the machine.)
-
Many problems that people experience with this viewer
are, in reality, problems with the actual slide tray.
- Check the bottom
on the tray to make sure that the slot for the slides to drop through is
aligned correctly.
- Check the top of the tray to make sure that the
lock ring is on straight and screwed down tightly.
-
If a slide drops down into the viewing position and
gets stuck, it can generally be removed with a pair of needle-nosed pliers
or some tweezers. This can happen when the slot for the slide to
drop through on the bottom of the tray is mis-aligned, and the slide can't
be ejected back into the tray.
